Raising $1,776 to Free Shelter Pets 🐾

Wishing a very happy July 4th to all of our loyal Amelia Air supporters! We are so grateful to all of our donors and advocates who give our mission wings.

In honor of Independence Day, our goal is to raise $1,776 dollars so we can fly more shelter pets to freedom! We really need your support to supercharge our mission in the second half of 2023, so make a 4th of July donation today by hitting the button below!

Enjoy some rescue highlights from the first half of 2023, and discover some practical tips on keeping your pets safe through this holiday weekend and the warm days ahead.

VET CLINICS 🩺

Amelia Air’s resident Veterinarian (and pilot!) Dr. Adi Chatow has spearheaded our spay & neuter clinic program in the South. Shelters are overflowing this summer, and spay & neuter surgeries are an incredibly effective way to curb pet overpopulation. Dr. Chatow has performed close to 100 life-saving surgeries across 5 free clinics in 2023 so far!

PUPDATES 🐶

Bassets before…

Pets are family. But when a bonded father and daughter duo were left behind during a move, our volunteer pilot Paul was there to help! Paul flew the pair from Porterville, California to our incredible partners at Priceless Pets in Chino.

…bassets adopted!

Mere days later, these hounds found the perfect home! We are so grateful to our rescue partners like Priceless Pets who always find ways to match our flight alums with loving forever families. Check out the video from this mission on here on our Instagram page.

Patchouli before…

At just 2 weeks old, baby Patchouli found herself alone at an animal shelter in Bakersfield, CA - no siblings, no mom, no family. With her eyes still closed, she flew with Petra to the Labelle Foundation in Los Angeles, an incredible organization that specializes in bottle babies.

…Patchouli adopted!

Two months later, Patchouli was finally old enough for her forever family. And she found one with her very own role model! After a rough and lonely start to life, this sweet pup is now the ‘mini me’ to her color coordinated big brother. Happy life, Patchouli!

SUMMER PET SAFETY TIPS ⛑️

Dog looking out the window at fireworks

As hot days and fun celebrations are upon us, it’s important to remember to take extra care of our furry friends. Here are our tips for protecting your pets from our very own Flying Dogtor, Dr. Adi Chatow!

🎇 Pets are more sensitive to loud noises, flashing lights and strong smells. As 4th of July is right around the corner, be sure to exercise pets early and leave them safely indoors. If your pet gets extra anxious from fireworks, ask your veterinarian about anti-anxiety medications and other recommendations appropriate for your pet.

🆔 Many pets escape their homes during the 4th of July season from fear and anxiety of the fireworks -- so don't forget to tag your pets! All pets should wear collars with ID tags and should be microchipped and registered under your name and address.

☀️ NEVER leave your pet in a parked vehicle, minimize strenuous physical activity during the hot hours of the day, and make sure your pet has constant access to shade and water.

🌡 High temperatures put your pet at risk of heat stroke, which can become deadly very quickly. Keep an eye on your pets and rush your pet to a veterinary hospital if you see any signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, collapse, and bright red gums.

Summer is here! Visit our shop to see all our warm weather swag. Got ideas for what we should make next? Let us know!

From all of us at the Amelia Air Force, thanks for your support and happy Independence Day!
