7 Dumped Puppies Get a Freedom Flight

While planning for a separate mission, the west coast team got a desperate plea from the incredible team at Ozzie & Friends rescue: a litter of 7 puppies had been abandoned in Visalia, CA. The babies were too young to be without their mom, so they needed to get specialized care immediately. Petra decided to squeeze in an extra rescue to ensure that these sweet kids got a new lease on life.

Around noon, Petra took off from Whiteman Airport (KWHP) for Visalia Municipal Airport (KVIS) to meet Victoria, an awesome volunteer who had prepped the 7 puppies for their rescue flight. Though they were young, they were not going to stay small for long! The 6 boys and 1 girl looked like mixes between shepherds, Shar Peis, and ridiculously cute.

With the litter loaded up in no time, Petra departed Visalia to get the little pups to safety as soon as possible. It was a beautiful day to fly, with clear skies across Southern California and no turbulence reported anywhere near the flightpath. While 6 of the puppies slept comfortably, the seventh - and the biggest - cried and cried until Petra relented and let him ride with her for most of the way!

After catching some incredible tailwinds, Petra and the puppies touched down at Fullerton Airport (KFUL) about twenty minutes ahead of schedule. Grateful to hang out with the cuddly little floofs, Petra gave each one some quality time and even shared the puppy breath with some fellow dog lovers at General Aviation.

In no time, the incredible founder of Ozzie and Friends, Nancy Jimenez, arrived at the airport to take all 7 puppies home with her. Each one will get all the food and veterinary care they need to grow up big, strong and well-adjusted to make perfect pets for the families who get to adopt them someday soon!

Check out the video recap from this mission below, and stay tuned for more updates - we have tons more missions planned for the weeks to come!
